I had an idea, thought I knew exactly how to execute it, figured it would be a wham bam, knock it out and move on to the next. In the end it was a month long exercise of trial and error, development and refining, covering up mistakes that soon became critical features of the project. This quickly became my science project. And as I mixed my dyes with dilutions and squeezed eye drops of color into orange juice bottles, I could not help but think of a mad scientist.
But mad, I was not. This was a project where I left my fears at the door and attacked it with ..... ... sheer curiosity. I let go of any feeling of permanence, or panic, commitments or urgency, and just kept pushing through to see what will happen next.
and so, I began with the idea...
then felt the idea was getting lost with the softness of the material.
...added more dimension, but then felt it was too strong...
tried to blend....but too subtle...
went for the more aggressive approach....
flipped it around and realized the chaos created...
so trimmed up the edges, packaged it nicely and wahlah...
an art creation...
I must say my opinion of the outcome changes everyday (depending whether I started off the day with chocolate), but in the end, I am proud of the process. And for that, I have succeeded.
