Choose Wisely

I stood on the Metro, sleepily awaiting my stop, holding a bag in one hand, a sketch book in the other. From behind, I heard this man asking for money, quite politely I must say. As it is such a rarity, I thought I should be alert. I held on to my bag just a little bit tighter. In the reflection I could see him approaching. In preparation, I tried to figure out what to say in Spanish. As he got closer, he slowed a bit, veered towards me and began to open his mouth but then unexpectedly stopped. He spotted my sketch pad. He frowned with exaggeration, mouthed a Spanish version of "umphr" and continued onwards. No words were exchanged. No desperate attempt for money. Perhaps he, too, might be a starving artist.

ha - I was debating whether to do facebook and half way through I thought I bailed out of the process. Apparently not, as all day long I have been accepted by friends. If only life was that easy.
