In the Real Art World

The gallery owner of ADN Galleria in Barcelona, Miguel Ángel Sánchez, was the guest speaker this week. He spoke for four hours! He had a wealth of information and was a great source of inspiration. All the while, reminding us that in the end, Art is a Business.

His interest lies within the exploration and exploitation of pop culture. Check out his website to see many of the artist who he represents. ADN Galleria

One in particular struck a chord,Igor Eskinja. He does installations that when photographed appear two dimensionally. Here is one in which the installation is sugar carefully spread on the floor in a distorted shape so that when photographed it appears vertical flat. The bar code, by the way, is of a popular book among artist. At the moment the name of the book escapes me. Hmmm...should that be of concern...?!

Here is another in which he has taken dust from his studio floor and created a Persian rug of sorts.

At yet again, here's a piece toying with perception.

Another artist I liked is French, Virginie Barré. There is something disturbing about this piece which in the art world is known as "stimulating."

There is much more to be seen. Check out the website, or if ever you're in Barcelona and soon to be in Brussels, stop by the gallery. Perhaps if I continue marketing his gallery, he may choose to market me. wink, wink. An artist must always be thinking!
